Beautifully put T Cut

These items provide no benefit and may damage your engine through persistent over-fuelling. Best to keep well clear.

You would be amazed that these, according to the adverts I have seen, even work with MG Bs and Midgets, although I have yet to find an air temperature sensor on the inlets to my twin SU Carbs! But in fact, I think I am luck lucky because pulling the choke knob out would have the same effect at no cost for this gizmo!

Default Gizmo's and gadgets

Caveat emptor
Years ago in an American magzine I saw an ad for a fuel saving device "As fitted to all Aston Marton and Maserarri Cars" (sic) Wouldn't get away with it these days
However I have since seen all sorts of gizmo's and gadgets claiming to improve fuel consumption including the Fuel Cat - a ball of metal wire that you threw into the petrol tank.
There followed a series of letters in the BMW bike club magazine many claiming a 5 - 10 % benefit with this item but one chap had a theory that once fitted/ installed the rider unwittingly drove more carefully thus achieving the desired results so he put this to the test.
His wife, a serious biker herself, kept a precise log of her bikes fuel consumption so he put a Fuel Cat in her tank but didn't tell her. After a period of several months and a few thousand miles her bike showed not one jot of improvement.
Case prove M'lord?
