Depending on who tests the car they "can" fail the brakes for the warning light being on, just as they can fail them for not being in a good enough condition ie how much pad is left, for the next 12 months after the MOT test, it relates to "front brake condition" regardless of the efficiency of the brakes. I fell foul of it one year with my 75, argued my case quoting efficiency of the brakes but as the tester pointed out there is a section on the fail form for "brake condition" front and rear. Just like some will fail a rusted brake pipe others wont.

Default More Braking news

My 75 has just passed its MOT with the brake sensor light glowing away. The examiner queried it and put it on the form as an item for my attention but was satisfied that the pads and braking efficiency were upto scratch.

My hand brake never worked properly from day one when the car was new and I am responsible for the 'How To' article on the subject.
It is inconceivable that the brake shoes will be worn out unless you have been doing handbrake turns - replacing them will achieve nothing and it will be setting them up properly which will make the difference which can be done with the existing ones anyway at zilch expense!

Can't find your "How To" link Sylvester, would you mind posting the link here?
It is strange how some 75's have brill handbrakes and others are just pants!!!!
Never really found out why.

Cheers

Thanks GG
keep forgetting to look there!
Some really good PDF files and it's quicker than trying to find my 75 ZT manual on CD too
