They wont be banned completely. Imagine the response from people with Ferraris, Bentleys, Astons, Mclarens, Mercs, Lambos....I could go on and on. Money talks and exceptions for real classics will be around. They may put an inspection process in to get classic tax and status which I think Europe does in some countries already? Heavy mods are not allowed though if the Mk2 Cav scene folk are correct.

25 Years Old minimum to be a true Classic - at least that's what I thought was the case

I think the 75 was basically a classic from launch, with its retro styling and old world charm interiors harking back to cars from the early part of the last century, but with modern build quality. With Rover itself folding after such a history the 75 was the last of the greats and its place in the history books secured. It wont be a true classic until the last of the cheap daily runabouts are off the road and the remaining cars are cherished examples owned by enthusiasts.

Hi Mike, you cant use may be may be's as a future of a classic, that's like saying if there no roads to drive them with Electric cars will no good either!

we have to base what is a classic on todays info.

I know there will be roads, but it's likely ice cars won't be allowed to use them.

I have restored many motorbikes, and not once did I have to consider the fact that I may not be able to buy fuel for them, or may not be able to ride them.

I am already being told where I can and can't drive my diesel. What will it be like in 10 or 15 years time?

Dawn, I know there are a lot of real classics, but the cars you mentioned are probably owned by people who can afford to have them converted to electric power so that they can continue to be used and driven wherever the owner chooses. A Rover 75 will never be worth enough to consider an electric conversion.

Mike I think you're being a bit negative. I am of a mind that a true collector is most definitely not going to want the heart ripped out of his Ferrari etc for an electric motor. The car wouldn't be original any more. It's like a Rembrant with graffitti on. There has always been exemptions for classics and I believe these will continue. More to the point, well for me and how I feel - enjoy what you have now. Don't worry too much about what might or might not happen to cars. We don't even know our own future. Look at my brother. He bought the ZT to enjoy and it outlasted him. He had it about 8 weeks. So enjoy now and worry about tomorrow, tomorrow.

I think my car is a classic no matter what others believe, and I am dang well loving having it right now, and will worry later. I certainly won't panic and sell it. I made that mistake when the unleaded furore happened and it was a big mistake.

It's all just labels really. Was aware 25 years+ for classics 50 years+ vintage.

My Honda VF is a couple of years off no MOT needed. I'm calling that vintic.

Like above, everything I have is a classic for one reason or another. (Except the MG3, that's a car)
