Default Bonnet Sensor Removal

Please excuse my ignorance, but I have tried several searches but to no avail. How do I remove the bonnet sensor as it appears to be faulty. I pulled of the rubber but need to remove the sensor to check the connections. The alarm won't arm as display shows bonnet/boot open.

Assuming you mean the push switch on the slam panel, i believe you push a flat item I.E feeler gauge or flat plastic under both side's of the switch and pull up to release it. Hope this help's. Good luck.
Lee.

Hi. The rubber came off mine and I had to remove it to re-fit it.

The way I did was to feel for the underside of the switch underneath the slam panel. Drivers side first and push in towards the switch to release the sprung clip pushing upwards at the same time. This should free one side and raise the switch proud of the panel. Hold the drivers side up to stop it going down and locking in again. Then do the same with the opposite side. It should then be free.
Remember to re-fit the rubber before putting it back in to position.
Hope this makes sense.
John.

Slide a couple of credit cards / clubcard / donor card (anything credit card sized basically) either side to push the clips in and lift it out. 10 second job.

I can't see any way to access under the slam panel. Do I have to remove it. Can't see how the credit card suggestion works as I can't access the holding clips on each side which are on the underside of the slam panel!! Did you do this on the same model i.e. 2004 75 diesel? Forgive my ignorance but I just can't see the 10 min fix you suggest!

Hi Justin.
I think what the guys/members are saying is that, if you use something thin like a credit card or feeler gauge, you can slide these under and either side of the sensor and push inwards releasing the plastic spring clip this will allow you to pull the bonnet sensor from the slam panel. couple of photo's below, hopefully giving you an idea what you need to do good luck Arctic.

Sorry, I wasn't quite clear. You don't need to access underneath the slam panel - this can be done from above. The top of the clips are above the level of the slam panel.

Just lift up the rubber cover, slide a card either side and this is enough to free the clips - lift up as you do so and the switch will come out quite happily.

I hope that is more helpful, don't get too stressed, once you do it you'll see how easy it is
