Fitted a replacement sat nav cd drive I picked up on Ebay for the hi line. The previous one wasn't working when I bought the car due to the water damage.
Also fitted a union jack flag badge to the tail gate to replace the original faded one. The old one was still stuck fast though and only came off when wrestled with a pair of long nose pliers. |

Today I managed to tackle a daft little job that I'd been putting off for a little while. Partially because I wanted to source the parts, partly because it was the passenger side and it didn't affect me directly
The passenger seatbelt height adjustment wasn't working, and the belt was very slow to retract. I knew the trim piece was damaged behind, but I wasn't sure what the problem was. I sourced a replacement clip to fix the wire to seat frame again thinking it was just down to that but still no go. Thanks to championdaddy I got the trim bits delivered today so decided to take a look. I also had sourced a replacement adjustment mechanism should I need (not that I fancied removing seats etc to fit it). Worth noting the BMW part was half the price of the Rover ones on e-Bay. So I undid the bolt and released the seatbelt, took the trim off and had a proper look - the wire at the top of the mechanism had jumped the guide, so I freed that off but still no difference, was a little puzzled as I couldn't really see anything else wrong until I realised the plastic cover for the wire wasn't clipped in where it needed to be. Pushed it into place and all sorted - add in a quick spray of furniture polish on the belt and reel and normal service was resumed. Bugged me for a while, now working correctly and I even swapped the trim on the drivers side as it was worn, love doing little jobs like this where I can just potter about. Next time - got to tackle a couple of misbehaving reversing sensors |

Well, after changing front pads on Monday, had to do a "big shop" today, & also went to ECP for rear pads, so took the car, pad warning light came back on When the ridiculously hot weather had bogged off, & it cooled down outside, had a little play with the sensor Still on Decided a little "persuasion" was needed, gave it a little tap with a 14lb hammer(joking) & so far, so good, though not been out yet

Decided to keep some of that solar radiation out of the back of the car with some 90% tint
So while I has the door finishers off for matt blacking I had the windows out and did them replacing the lesser tint in them originally (original can be seen in the quarter lights...)

If you are going to clean out the EGR also do the manifold as that too will be in the same state, as will the MAP sensor, I did a few myself a week or so ago. Added one to my FL1 yesterday even though as you can see from ther photo it was still clean from the last change in October last year, I do it twice a year. Arctic

Spent the last couple hours fighting with cables for my reversing camera. Glad that is over, my hands are sliced to bits now.
Horrible job, but hopefully worth it. Now to extend the video cable to the head unit and wire in the reverse switching. I have some wiring to do for switched power sockets and USB chargers etc tomorrow. Sent from my LG-H850 using Tapatalk
