Another brilliant show at Corbridge, thanks Stu. Great bunch of people from this club. Some fantastic cars on display including ours. My favourite was a white Mk1 Ford Escort RS1600, totally standard it was the superb.

there were some beauties today and the white escort like you say was in mint condition and completely straight. my 5 other favourites were these, all in as new if not better than new condition.
the McLaren was the best car I've ever clapped eyes on in the flesh, amazing style and finish. 20160703_132302.jpg 20160703_151213.jpg 20160703_104050.jpg 20160703_104922.jpg 20160703_110953.jpg

What a day! I was running a few minutes late this morning and ended up leaving in a bit of a rush, to get to the metrocentre to meet up. On the way down from Stanley I found myself behind a white metro that was, shall we say, making rapid progress.
In what was a surreal moment at the time, slowed down for some roadworks, the driver wound his window down and a huge cloud of smoke left the vehicle..... Any way....got to the metro and made our way from there to Throckley to pick up the rest, and from there to Corbridge. Some slight confusion over the route and the change in entrance saw some of us arrive the opposite way to others, despite all being in the same convoy The site was pretty dry, but the all new "straight to your area" system didn't seem to work, at least to me, but the ground was well laid out so we were parked up soon enough. A few no shows left a bit of a gap, but I think we made an impressive showing with a nice spread of cars. We even had a very rare ZT, codename "Longbridge Lion". I don't think many spotted this one, it was cleverly disguised, and looked almost Jaguar like in appearance........ Only kidding Ziggy72, your big cat was stunning, and every bit the credit to you, as ZT alternatives go, I'll let you off with that one We even had a Marinabrian, but he disappeared quicker than anyone could say "T4", and soon the camping chairs were out and the portable stoves firing into life. At that point I would have loved to have joined in, I had packed my stove to make myself a few cuppas during the day, I had also packed the kettle, spare gas, some coffee, sugar, a teaspoon, mug, and even remembered the dinky bottle of milk! What I totally forgot was any water....... Moving on, I had a stroll around the site, and the volume of vehicles on display was incredible, so much to see, a really good turn out by all the clubs and individuals involved. I can also recommend the Angus Burgers As the day progressed we were reminded by Stu that we had our voting forms to complete so I took another wander around the cars and what I really enjoy, is reading the history and background stories behind some of the cars, and take a look at any information that is provided. I also like spotting the personal touches and seeing if I can work out the changes an owner has made to their car. Some are obvious, like the paint effect on someone's wheels, others more subtle like adding the covers to the door stops. What was apparent, as you would expect, was that every car was obviously cherished by it's owner and each was a credit to them. The forms were completed by all, voting for the car by the number assigned to each member, and at this point it is worth mentioning that Stu had arranged all of this himself, out of his own pocket, as a nice way of remembering the day. As usual Stu excelled in his role as Regional Secretary, and we are lucky to have him in this role - hats off to you Stu A short "ceremony" was performed, the highlight of which was the minor confusion over which owner was which number, which the cheeky side of me enjoyed, I did have a little giggle over it As the results were called we had some very deserving winners, and some additional awards from Stu that he had picked out, see if you can see any winners below: Soon it was time to leave, and as I had some family commitments to attend to, I followed Brian out as he was having to leave to see to a poorly pup. I say leave........the following hour was an interesting time where the most gripping part was waiting to see if Brian would run out of fuel. He left with 0 range and was pretty desperate for fuel BEFORE the hour queue to get out. The reason for the delay seemed to stem from a recovery wagon trying to gain access against the flow of cars leaving, and also from being in the right place at the wrong time - most of those leaving ahead of us had the view of the ignorant woman behind the wheel of a Mini Cooper S who seemed to think her 8 ft car could fit in a 6 inch gap and just drove into it, anyone else be damned......and breathe.....rant over So, another Meet over, and having not attended one for quite a while, I really enjoyed this one, my apologies to anyone I didn't get to chat too, but it was all of you that made this a great meet, and you should all be proud of the vehicles you presented.
