Default MTEC brake discs

Ok this is maybe a daft question but here we go....

I have just bought a pair of MTEC front discs for my ZT and I got MTEC to apply that special coating you can have (at extra cost) to combat corrosion on the discs. Before fitting new discs the instructions say to de-grease the discs. Having this extra coating on, is there a risk of damaging/removing the coating if the discs are de-greased?

Thanks

Andrew

Fitted mine recently and as they are coated from MTEC, I assume that was doing the job of any protective grease you'd find on standard discs(certainly my coated ones were grease free) - I have a feeling the "instructions" are a generic catch all type that goes in with anything.

Just fitted mine straight on and they were fine.

No, it's only like a 2 pack paint. Wipe them over and fit. The pads rub the coating off on the disc braking face and the rest obviously stays painted.

I didn't like the idea of rubbing the paint off with the pads (didn't want them being contaminated) but I haven't had an issue
