I think I've got a hornets nest of problems lol the blower is cold can feel a bit of warmth on pipe going to matrix other is cold, also there is coolant in the v bank and most likely air blocks in system, plus no sign of oil in coolant. it also took a long time to fire up today.
I've bought it as a cheap banger to run around in and most likely will break if its uneconomical to fix. Otherwise it runs spot on.
Keith.
Thermostat housing is cracked, leaking coolant into the V, this will account for the overheating issues. Change the Thermostat and carefully bleed the system and the heater should kick into life.

I'm glad there is no mixing of oil and coolant. Please report back with you findings.

The car will serve you well and the forum and members are on hand with any help they can give. Absolutely no need to even contemplate breaking the car..

To add to Pab's thoughts. A new set of spark plugs wouldn't go amis as it's not unheard of for people to not bother changing the rear plugs due to poor access.

Hello Keith and to the club.

Coolant leaks in the 'V' are very common with the KV6. As Pab says, the thermostat housing may be the culprit, but on my car it was the curved pipe in the same area. Many people buy a kit to renew all three plastic components (thermostat & housing, curved pipe, straight pipe) which have seals which aren't very durable. The kit is inexpensive.

When refilling the coolant on the KV6 the expansion tank should be raised as high as possible. If you search for my post with MG Rover's refilling procedure, and follow it, you'll have no problems.

Simon
