for all those that are wanting to upgrade their front lights ,a guy my mechanic knows is selling sets of front light upgrades , they come with bulbs and the metal box to boost the brightness ,not sure what they are called but i will ask ,he is selling the sets for £40 they are megga bright ,if anyone is intrested i will get my guy to take a pic of the kit and post it up .the guy has gone to china to sort out the pads he is making ,and will be back in november .so let me know if any one is intrested and i will sort something out forthose that are inrested ,i wont be making anything on the sale of these sets .. i have alsoasked him to find out if he would be able to get fogs and the chrome made for the premium bumpers .. again will know in november when he is back from china ..i dont know anything about the upgrades in light so if someone could let me know if £40 is a good price ...they come in a metal box to which would be handy to use after the lights or fitted ..
edit: to save anymore confusion ....... these are for the headlights and not the foglights

Not actually legal if you go by the strict letter of the law. But others have fitted them and got away with it.

There are many HID kits for sale on ebay. They look good and tell you how marvellous they are.
At the end of the add in very small letters it says "for off road and show use only" http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Rover-75-99-50...item563e0beee8 Last edited by capese21; 10th October 2010 at 11:48.. |

Aftermarket HIDs are NOT illegal. The law (Road Vehicles Lighting Regulations 1989) does not refer to them. It only addresses filament bulbs.
Factory fitted HIDs comply to European type approval regulations, and therefore cannot be outlawed under UK law. And type approval can only be obtained for new vehicles. There is an advisory from VOSA about the requirements for aftermarket HIDs, saying they should conform to the same standards as factory fitted (headlamp cleaning, self levelling etc)... BUT it is just an advisory statement and as such is not on the statutes. Therefore... not illegal. (Note, I am not a lawyer, so the above is just my opinion, having studied the various statutes relating to vehicle lighting)
