Also would recommend windows 7 so so so so so much better than vista in every way.

You can get. 120gb ssd for £60 odd which would speed your pc up too

This weekend I decided that the time had come, Make or break time.
Parts of the casing appeared to be getting very hot, so googled fan replacement for my asus f7f . Every site said it was necessary to remove everything in sight and expose all the innards from both sides . Mine seemed to be a bit different, and after removing just the single cover, revealed the fan!. Removed plenty of dust etc completely covering the cooling fins at the fan exit.
Replaced fan and now its so silent that I cant tell whether its working or not ! ...
Gets cooler though .
Soooo many thanks for your suggestions , The HD (SATA) replacement will have to wait a little longer . (Just in case, a new fan ordered today, all the way from HK, (Where else?) post free )

Hi, hope HK is not Hong Kong--if it is Customs levies charge before your postman can deliver--as I found out to my cost

Well the new fan arrived, wrong model, emailed supplier, he said he would send a replacement . Enquired about returning first fan, he said to keep it and ebay it ! . Thats service ! .
Incidentally it seems the problem was that fan (and blocked cooling fins ) after all.
No problems with customs though .
(Asus fan, ~£120. ebay replacement £12 ).
