Do pre-paid credit cards get the same rights as normal credit cards?
Pass Probably the same as debit cards... never had a pre-paid "credit" card. New to me....

Terrible news, but probably not as bad as the poor couple on BBC news, he worked in the XL call centre and was due to get married in the Carribian next mont. Not only has he lost his job, but an £8000 wedding as well. He got company discount on it as well...

I see some people are being charged £700 each to fly back from Tenerife this morning, on BBC News.
and told to Claim if they can later.
The Normal fare was £200 and this is the Maximum Insurance (If Covered) or CAA will pay, under the terms and Conditions printed.

Pre Paid Credit cards are NOT covered by the Credit Card Guarantee scheme.

The reasons Debit Cards are not covered is Simple,
You are using Your money direct to purchase same as Cheque or cash.
Credit Cards you are purchasing Item using the Banks money and Contract is partly with them.
Expect to see this alter as more Companies go bust,
Banks won't continue to loose money, rest assured and credit card charges will go up.

I see it was stated that up to 30 more Holiday Companies and UK Airlines are expected to go Bust.
Names cannot be given due to Competition and Trading and protection of information rules. (BBC News 8am)
This of course won't stop them taking your money 5 minutes before they go Bust.

All the Employees in one Welsh call Centre in Cardiff were made Jobless due to the Collapse.
Their Client was XL Airways.

Unhappy

Myself and swmbo plus 2 friends were due to fly with xl to egypt. We was lucky our travel agent managed to transfer our flights to thompsons, for a surcharge of £70 we feel lucky.
I feel so sorry for all the people that have lost out on there holidays. We have a XL office in Blackpool and to see all familys that were supposed to be flying soon was very sad.
Perhaps if they were called Northern XL Rock airways, then maybe our wonderful government might have bailed them out.

Just something else about paying by credit card....

I have found in the past that paying by CC will incur a charge for the transaction. This is not the case if paying by debit card. So is the customer paying insurance if paying by CC and things go wrong?

Banks charge more to process credit cards then they do debit cards. From my days of shop ownership, it was against the T & C's to differentiate the price depending on the payment method.
