Tessla at the Gadget Show Pics
Went to the Gadget Show at NEC Birmingham earlier today and took a few pictures of the all electric Tessla S
Starts at £54k, 0-6 in under 5 seconds for this rear wheel version, top speed just over 150mph and range of around 275 miles on one charge. Take a look at the centre console which is where most of it is controlled from , you could even close the sunroof from it and choose what % you wanted it left open ! Later this year a cheaper Tessla will hit the UK at around 35k US Dollars and there is also a large 4 x 4 on the cards

Having driven an electric vehicle recently (the Nissan Leaf), I can assure you the future is most definitely electric vehicles, they will make cars with internal combustion engines seem like relics (which they are).

I just saw an article today, saying that the Tesla Model 3, due to be launched late 2017, has over a quarter of a million pre-orders.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-35953817 Interesting to note that with the shear volumes, it is anticipated that battery prices will plummet. The high cost of the batteries has always been the bugbear, so there could be a serious future for these type of vehicles. I like the look of it!

With the expected number of sales there might be queues for the fast chargers.
I would consider a Tesla as I very rarely travel over 200 miles. But that might change if I had a car that was free to run!

Once the electric car get to about 10 years old it is believed that the prohibitive battery costs (estimated £19k for Nisaan LeaF) will most likely render the car scrap, which kind of negates the ECO marketing scam of these polluters doesn't it? I think its bad enough worrying about the battery level on my iPhone, never mind the stress if the car was going to make it 70 miles in a rural location. I dont want any more networks of cables, pillars and pylons and turbines polluting my (our) unscathed beautiful countryside either for town dwellers to gorge on with their greed for leccy. , Last edited by Lovel; 5th April 2016 at 16:26.. |
