Rover 213
What are peoples views on the Rover 213, I have thought about buying an old 1985 S model, and wondered if it would be a good buy or not?
The car looks in good shape for its age, with some light scabbing here and there; I've been told she drives light a dream. I guess parts are near impossible to find, even the simplest of items. |

Just Googled the model and what looks to be a mint example was auctioned April 2022 down your way Wes at South Western Vehicle Auctions in Poole. It was a 1985 213s with a Honda 1342cc engine and 29,365 warranted miles on the car. It sold for £1,350 + buyers premium. Although it sold last year the link to its auction gives some indication of what can be had so you might find it of interest. SWVA

My first car was a Rover 213S
Bullet proof Honda engine, though it was painfully slow. As standard it was fitted with 155/80 13's. No ABS. Torsion tube front suspension. In my opinion it didn't drive particularly well because of the this. I did manage to find a set of nice 14" 216 Vitesse alloys which improved the driveability. The bottom of the doors are water traps and rust quickly in the corners. I did however quite like the interior, engine and gearbox. Just my opinion. I always quite liked them. I nearly bought a Vitesse back in the day which came as a trade in against a big Volvo we had in stock…….I didn’t buy it because I really wanted that Volvo & I was in a bit of a huff
Absolute rot boxes though, I can remember stuffing a few of them full of “wing in a tin” before they went off to the auctions |

The one in question that I was going to grab is in beige with the dark brown interior, and twice the price, so not so keen now; now I've seen a near mint one for as little as £1350. Last edited by Dallas; 6th October 2023 at 10:33.. |

The guide price of £500-£1500 of the 213s auctioned at SWVA I guess will have been advised if not set by the auctioneer. There are no guarantees where the bidding will go on the day but the price achieved suggests that the auctioneer was bang on the money and that he/she knows the market for that type and quality of car.
