Well if jdc is giving you his blue lamp I can give you my handcuffs, cap, gunbelt, and badge of office (police officer pensacola) so all you need now is a 75 striped up to look the part

handy for fancy dress parties though
I have a set of rear mounted Red LED strobes that I was given after somebody mangled our Dr's emergency response car and for a few months had them fitted to our old Mondeo (as extra brake lights *cough*) I only ever used them once to get a boy racer off my rear bumper one night, but it was worth it though, the look of shock on his face was a classic. I still have them, but they are in the workshop now on the shelf awaiting fitting to the next response car. My mate works for the fire and rescue service and has an Astra kitted out with grille mounted stobes and headlight flashers, but he tells me that they are not allowed to use them without the roof light (with FIRE written on it) in case they get confused with a police car. also you can now tell the difference between sirens here (maybe the same in the mainland?) as they all use a slighty different tone, although I am a bit of an anorak in that my mates look at me oddly when I tell them whats coming before they see it

All the Different Emergency services have different sounding "sirens" fitted to them in the UK.
Police vehicles are the only ones that can use Blue flashing lights etc without any signage fitted on unmarked vehicles. Doctors use Green Flashing light, No signs required, but have no additional Road rights, purely a notification to road users. |
