XP SP3? Is that an officially available release yet or still only for the Microsoft Tech community?

Well, it has now shown up in Autoupdates but funnily enough it has never 'announced' itself in the auto-updates that seem to be downloaded weekly to the PC
Oh well, never mind. I'm now looking at it to see if it's worthwhile installing. Anyway... back on thread |

Still can't get the XP firewall off, nor can I find how to add an IP address to allow access.......

Try this route to get to Windows Firewall.
Click "My Computer" from the start menu. When the new window opens click on "My Network Places" down the left hand side of the window under "Other Places" then click "View Network Connections" under "Network Tasks". You should now see all available networks with the one you are currently using having a little blob with green waves 'emitting' from it. Right-click this icon and select "Properties". From the new dialogue box click on the "Advanced" tab and (hopefully) you can click on the "Settings" button in the "Windows Firewall" sub-section. From within the next dialogue box you should be able to disable Windows Firewall for that network connection. Click "Ok" on all the dialogue boxes to accept the new settings. |

Simon
Tried that, checked the properties on all the connections, and I get the same firewall screen with the disable button greyed out. It talks about group policy, but when I search on it, I can't find how to disable it under group policy............
