if I was on the computer and came across a word full of asterixes I would need the kids to explain it to me all kids seem to pick these words up quickly and the real smart ones are the ones who ask what they mean when bleeped out just to see what answers an adult gives

Makes me laugh that we are even discussing it! - Talk about the Streisand Effect !
Another thing that made me laugh was when the correct word is used but confused the auto-moderation. I cannot remember the context but I found myself on the receiving end when I posted about a NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD- of grass ($0D of grass) |

At the end of the day those that want to swear will swear... I do have to say that we all must have bigger and more important things to worry about than the triggering of a swearing filter software. I know I do.....

I wonder how this will turn out.....
I made a bit of a NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD- up on the way to Scunthorpe. Good grief - how is a perfectly normal English expression "profanity" - ridiculous. Last edited by Ps3000; 24th December 2015 at 09:04.. |

Why doesn't the swear filter just use asterisks for any words it doesn't like in the same colour as the background?
No one is then offended, asterisks won't need to be explained, mods don't need to waste time policing threads for swear words, and if the authors don't edit them out all anyone will see are extra gaps between words. |

If the site won't revert back to using an asterisk, can we not consider just perhaps using 'naughty wood' once rather than repeat it several times?
