Alloy wheel refurb
Just bought a ZT-T and love it but hate the wheels. They are the 18inch straight type but have been spray painted (badly) grey...yuk !
At the moment I can't afford to get them done by a professional and keep seeing the refurb kits on ebay. Has anyone refurbed a set themselves or any ideas what I can do. It's a real shame as the car is lovely except the wheels. Thanks

If I remember correctly I believe Bacon Butty Man refurbed his own alloys and put photos of his finished wheels up on here.
Edit: Found the link although the pictures are no longer hosted so you may need to ask Mick if he could send you photos of how they turned out. http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/foru...d.php?t=104134

I live in Milton Keynes and recently bought some Union wheels which I refurbed myself with a kit bought from Motorserv, ready to fit winter tyres later in the year. It took a long time, especially the masking, but I was pleased with my first attempt. Looking back I should have used the fine glasspaper more as I can still just see some of the marks from rubbing down but they will do.
When they were done I took my original 17" star spokes to BJV near Hemel Hempstead as I could not get the right 'bright silver' finish myself. I was really delighted with the finish and the cost was £330 for five (I bought another star spoke to use as a spare instead of the space saver). However, today I fitted the star spokes on the car and one appeared to have a puncture which Quik Fit diagnosed as a faulty refurb so I will be taking it back! If you are going to BJV study their directions carefully as they are not easy to find. Bob |
