That's not good.

This is caused by failure of the cam cover gadget - I have just recently replaced one of mine which was pouring oil down onto the exhaust and smoking.
When I opened it up all 3 plug recesses were full of oil and looking at the gasket you could see where the seal had failed. As I also replaced the plugs and couldn't remove all the oil some of it drained into the cylinders - the smoke screen when it started would have shamed a naval destroyer... I noticed the start of the same thing on the front bank so I suppose I will have to do that one at some point. |

On a related note, I know now much effort is required to remove the rear plugs - no wonder nobody ever does it!
Gonna get flamed for this, but the V6 seems like a truly terribly designed engine to work on (at least compared to my CDTi) |

I think so too, but in reality most modern cars are just as bad if not worse.
There us no such thing as simple design any more. |

Very true ! Every so often I go to a classic car show and look at the Morris Minors with their bonnets open Loads of space and not an electronic thing in sight

Na, rear plugs on mine are a ten minute job, once you realise that the easiest way is to ignore the stupid flap and just remove the plastic manifold. quick and easy.
