It is certainly fascinating to learn about the K Series in this way, makes you think of so many aspects of what happened to Rover with this design and what could of happened if things were different.
Its interesting to learn about why could Rover make a long bolt engine when no one has succeeded before. mmmmmmmmm! |

The failure rate of this engine is nothing sort of disastrous, and would have been contributing to the demise of the make. Off hand, I can only think of the NSU RO80 Wankel engine being worse. |

Very interesting videos. Thanks for the links.
Just out interest, why they did not build this stack as a tower of lego blocks I don't understand. Anyone who has eaten a big BIG burger, with a stick in it, will realize that the stability of such an item is not great. When you start filing at the one side, the middle sections start sliding to the side. I would defy anyone to get through one of these without getting "HGF" Had each layer of this engine had interlocking studs or equivalent, I am sure many of the problems would have been minimized. Just a thought, mind you. Last edited by kaiser; 13th January 2012 at 18:42.. Reason: http://www.honestjohn.co.uk/forum/post/index.htm?t=55015 |
