Default Automatic Gearbox Problems Newbee

Hi many years ago used to own a SD1 2000 great car, now just recently purchased R75 2.5 V6 2004 with 142k on the clock, this is the nicest car I have ever owned.

So far sorted the leaking boot, given up on the radio as they do not like being under water much, working my way through my CD collection.

Changed the manifold with a working second hand manifold from ebay, found the vis motors were as bad as mine, fixed dry joints, taken the motor apart like the one on you tube, cleaned all the oil out of them, was low on power and high on mpg.

Now it is starting to sound like a V6 ish, during this the auto box was playing up not changing up, I put this down to being down on power from the vis motor problem; now I think it might be a different problem

The car will not rev much over 3000 rpm and will not change up easily; even in snow mode, and has no get up and go, I am still trying to work out if the vis motors are a bit intermittent.
I have not got traction control fitted to the car and have removed fuse 4 to try and reset the auto box; to no avail (HELP)

Does sound vis related but a change of gearbox oil would be a good move too

Failed vis motors will have no effect on the car not wanting to rev over 3000 rpm

I think I read on here someone having problems with the engine not revving up correctly. It seemed that the crank sensor was beginning to fail at high revs.

I can't see that a gearbox fault would stop the engine revving.--

Perhaps the gearbox fluid has never been changed, therefor, its turned to soup.

The car look like it had been well looked after, clean engine oil, well polished and nice inside.

I select drive and it moves up through the gears 1 and 2 around 2000, it feels like 3rd seems the problem revving up to 3000 but not moving up, putting then into snow mode makes it move into 3rd then it struggles to get into 4, playing with the throttle sometimes makes it change gear.
All this makes me feel like driving Miss Daisy.

Also now I have a spare manifold (no rattles) is it worth cutting it open and taking the valves out or gluing them shut? as I now have 2 sets of dodgy vis motors which seem to be intermittent, I have been through so many youtube videos.

I am a blower, taking the manifold off, and blowing the oil breather pipes out.

I had a crank sensor fault on a Frontera, that messed with things like rev counter and MPG readings on the trip computer saying was was getting 90+mpg.

Nice if it was real

By the way Changing the manifold was the most mechanical thing I have ever done with out adult supervision. I was quite chuffed to get it all back together; and it actually started (shame it did not have much effect)

Any one fancy buying a second hand non rattly manifold.
