Default MG ZTT CDTi Intermittently cuts out

Hi everyone, I own a 2003 ZTT CDTi 135 and over the course of the past year I seem to have an electronic gremlin causing my car to cut out after ignition as well as occasionally cut out while driving.

So far I've had 4 mechanics look at it, I've also stripped it down and cleaned the high pressure fuel regulator. I've also had the keys, alarm and immobiliser checked with 5 different diagnostics units and no codes came up.

The car is mechanically sound cause when it runs, it runs brilliantly. It's been serviced and checked over from front to back inside and out, but still this one little issue keeps happening.

If anyone can help, it would be gratefully appreciated because this is a beautiful car and I don't want to scrap it but I need this gremlin gone
Cheers. Ben

First port of call for me would be the under bonnet pump electrical connector and/or the pump itself.

Give the connector a clean and put some vaseline in to the connector and reconnect.

might not help but at least you will know it is ok.

If the pump does not run give it a tap with a blunt insrtrument.

The above is assuming it is not a face lift model which does not have an Under Bonnet pump.

It's a pre facelift model, I've checked the entire fuel system from tank to common rail, it's running 55,000 kvi at the high pressure pump, it seems to be an issue at the Ecu possibly

Before going any further, has it had a T4 session? or has it just been scanned by a EOBD type of device?
The difference between a good knowledgeable T4 expert and a general mechanic with a EOBD type scanner is huge.

Well if you checked it when it was running you would get 55,000kvi.But have you tried it when it has cut out ? and before you try starting it again.

Do you know what a Plenum Chamber is ??
if not do a search on here and see what damage a blocked one with water in can cause.
