Thanks Sjonnie,
I'll have a look around & see for both. I've just had a quick look on ebay and Sygic is interesting. Rob

Hi Rob,
You'll find Sygic in the Play store. It's essentially free with OSM maps so no need to buy on the ' bay.

Thanks Sjonnie,
That's probably what I'll use, although it does require mirroring my phone to the head unit for the car specific app. Rob

Why don't you use the play store on the unit to install Sygic? You can use your phone as hotspot or connect to your WiFi (if close enough ). You then download the UK map and you're on your way. Way easier although installation may take more time.

Spent literally hours downloading Sygic Sweden maps through the headunit, only for it to again tell me there were no maps installed, and again, and again.
Gave up and re-installed IGO. Gino. I got my maps from this ebayer. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/323699157681?ul_noapp=true Cheap, and helpful, answered many questions as I had trouble installing from the SD card to the unit's flash memory. Not only did I get Sygic, but IGO Worldwide, and Navigon was also included on the supplied SD Card for the same £10 price, not a bad deal. Regards |

You can also use google maps downloaded onto the navall via your phone hotspot or wifi in your house. It has updates when traffic jams too.
I use it and it works great in ireland but I couldnt get the hotspot to work when in northern ireland but that might be the phone network im on. |

Well I've tried Sygic maps Monday, it was on a route a travel a lot so can't comment on its accuracy. The maps did download quickly. I have two slight issues though, firstly it's metric and secondly it said it was a free trial.
I don't really want to spend a fortune, but the maps do seem very good. Rob

The metric part I can't help you with. But I am sure it is possible to change it to Imperial in the settings.
The free trial suggests you are using the TomTom maps (or similar). If you change it to OSM (Open Street Maps) the trial message should disappear. It has been a while since I installed Sygic on my unit but I do remember the trial message. I changed to OSM and I haven't seen the message since. HTH

Thanks Sjonnie,
I'll give that a try. I had looked in settings to change metric to imperial but couldn't find the option, it's not a major issue, just a niggle. Rob

Just installed Sygic on my phone. The setting for miles/yards can be found in settings/regional settings.
