Angry Outdated TV Module

I've no doubt this has been asked before, but as I'm about to buy a new TV module the thought occurs to me that "will it be useless after January 08 when the change to Digital occurs in some regions". Granada being one of the first... So does that mean I'll have to buy the more expensive Hybrid module?

Any thoughts anyone???

Would it not be worth putting your new module purchase on hold, or investing more and buying a DVB-T unit John?

Well, if you're willing to part with a rather scary amount of money, it's a box that will allow you to get Digital freeview channels on your in-dash tv.

Along the lines of - http://thebassbin.co.uk/shop/product...s_id/1503.html

I'm sure BMW make one thats a direct replacement for the current analog tuner, sure someone will either confirm or correct me on that one though

Much cheaper option this BMW one on EBay today: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/BMW-16-9-HYBRI...QQcmdZViewItem If you manage to win it that is as there will be a lot of demand. Retail over £1000 he says.

His other Adverts & Buy it Now Price is £500 after asking him so he may well remove if his target is not met. Still a good price if you have any money left after Christmas & New Tear, I know I haven't!

I reckon it will have to be a separate Freeview decoder fed into the the AV input (so it blanks on the move) of the existing TV tuner and with a separate remote (and magic eye) to change the channels and it will need a separate aerial or a bit of surgery to use the existing one.

something like one of these seems to be just the job
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/DVB-T-Mobile-C...QQcmdZViewItem

£39 is fair but postage is a rip off
It supports head rest screens for sprogs as well which won't be blanked on the move

I will not be paying hundreds for a BMW one

I have designed but not built yet an adaptor that takes the RF and LO I2C bus signal from the tuner that then in turn feed and controls a Freeview box for when switch off occurs. I am currently looking for a suitable diversity receiver to match up to it to make it permanent. Nothing suitable found so far but analogue switch off is really several years away for the majority.
