Either you've got the backlash of the hurricane or, jeff's been at the sprouts, seeing as its Sunday.

It's proper blustery, one of the neighbours had a bough of a tree fall onto his BMW as he was passing under it, It made a right mess of the roof & broke the windscreen & back window

That will be destined for the breaker's yard then, unless its just scratched the roof and not dented it. Couldn't have come from Jeff that sort of wind. Although......

Hopefully drying out the electric components - your way will do the trick and what about doing a reset to factory settings.
Hi Phil,

Problem is if the screen isn't visable how do you access the menu to reset the camera?
It was an electrical shut down of the screen rather than firmware so a reset would probably not have helped anyhow

Hopefully I will have got away with it, prices from CPS Colchester would run to a bit more than £40 if not

I'm going to pick up a pre owned second body (same model) so should I suffer a malfunction on the job I have a back up.
Matters not when shooting for fun, different story when you're charging for a job though !

Another good reason for getting cats neutered , tends to stop them spraying

It would have been nice to know how to change the time/date.

I think I've sorted out which buttons do what for the recording & parked modes, not sure which Movie format I'm in but looks like 720HD as this tiny vid file was 75Mb's Quality isn't too bad albeit a dark dank rainy day here.

Typical! this weekend was a mega sale on that Chinese site 'bang good' and this dash cam was reduced to half the price what I paid
I'd be interested to know how you get on with it Ian. This afternoon, at a roundabout, a female driver was driving through it, going in the opposite direction and I had to swerve to avoid having a head-on collision. I should have had a dash cam to record her terribly bad driving.

Ah - Judge John Deed - Angela has, on more than one occasion, spent all day watching successive episodes of that on some weird "repeat of repeats of repeats" type channel

Damn - I was just about to Google that and now my hopes have been dashed

Got my caravan site internet back again - despite some strong winds and torrential rain this afternoon. Had an excellent day out with son, his missus and the grandkids yesterday. Treated 'em to lunch at a really nice country pub (The Black Bull, near Pickering - recommended to anyone in the area), then went into Scarborough and had a good wander round the less commercial end of the place.

Unfortunately, the day ended on a sour note when I had a telephone conversation with a friend back home. I mentioned in a post a while back that he had been diagnosed with a form of leukemia. He had experienced no symptoms at all, and the doctors only discovered the problem in checking his blood prior to a replacement hip operation. On Friday, having had is hip op. and recovered remarkably well, he went to see the specialist over his cancer.
Not a good result - 2 to 3 years with no treatment; possible total cure with a bone marrow transplant, but massive potential complications along the way. They've given him a couple of weeks to decide on which route he wants to go down, whilst they start a search for a suitable donor.
Not what he wanted to hear, with us both having recently been to the funeral of another life-long mate who succumbed to lung cancer.

I'm going to give it a go in the Rover tomorrow now that I've sussed....ish the buttons out, Finally managed to set the clock/date after much fiddlin'

I bought it for the same reason plus a bit of fun, It's cheap as chips & the pic / audio quality seems to be OK, everything works as it should. I've ordered a few things from there & P+P is free on everything (from what I've seen), It's a quid extra if you want tracking & insurance was 39 pence for it

It's got a 'parked' mode where it sense's movement & records automatically if someone bumps into it.

All valid points Jeff. The £40 was really cheap, a backstreet Indian electronics workshop Sony contracted, in Nairobi - African prices. But for a £4000 Canon you'd expect repairs to cost more. It's prudent of you Jeff to get yourself a second camera as a back up for those 'just in case' moments. I have a £100 DSLR water proof jacket housing, a gift from Jessops, never used. It's in Nairobi, but I will bring it back in January if you would like to have it.
