Default Another Bonnet release newbie

Hi all, just bought my first MG ZT 3 days ago so don't know enough about then to be able to post any help or advice for other members, so this is my first post. Having the same problem as many other members with releasing the bonnet catch. I managed to open it yesterday by getting hold of the cable behind the release handle with a pair of long nose pliers and slowly & carefully pulling it. Can someone please PM me a more permanent solution to fixing the problem.
By the way, great forum with loads of intersting articles to read, I'm currently contemplating changing my IPK to one with a trip computer, If I do it I will post my findings

The bonnet release info. is never posted on the forum and any member posting such will have the info. removed from their post.

There is good reason for keeping it out of the public eye. It is a security risk, as it allows access to the engine compartment without use of a key.

The information is only available by PM'ing a moderator. We will ask for your VIN number and Registration number as minimal proof of ownership. This is deleted as soon as the relevant information is sent back.

Reconnecting the cable to the internal release lever is a simple task, remove cover panel and reconnect cable, this is common knowledge and is not a security risk as you need access to the car using a key.

If the bonnet locks are greased and the connector box reversed, then it is highly unlikely that you will ever suffer being locked out of the engine compartment.

Hi All

Can any one send me the info on how to get my bonnet open with out wrecking the bonnet or the front grill.

I think the cable has slipped into the plastic connector block under the bonnet.

So any help or info would be great.

Default bonnet release cable broken

Sorry to be boring (or repetitious) but I am now stuck in the middle of an oil change!

Can anybody advise how to open the bonnet when the release cable comes off,

Grateful thanks for the first reply that works!
