Hi John.
That is how they all start to fail, with air line splits, then eventually they fail completely. 1 2 The main concern I have at the present time though is the fact that some of the cars have the 1.8 Chinese mount fitted and it looks like the small mount is very weak to say the least, also it looks like modifying the Jag/Mondeo mount also compromises the small mount. These are the videos where I tested the mounts in turn while clamped in the vice sort of simulating it being bolted to the subframe, and the bracket bolted to the small bush. First I tested the Chinese 1.8 & the 2.0 Chinese mounts together. https://youtu.be/E5qfQ4pUbNg Next I tested the Jag /Mondeo mount in the vice and bolted to its bracket. https://youtu.be/JWY02A0WLR0 Then it was the turn of the original T mount. https://youtu.be/rrH8S1TJK1c Lastly I tested the Petrol power flex mount, just because I have one, it will not reflect on how it would work on a diesel engine, but at least puts the members minds at rest whom have it on their petrol car. https://youtu.be/RLs4-ScQt7Y These tests were done yesterday 2/4/20

Engine Mount Test / Bracket
Today I decided to fit the diesel bracket back onto the engine I have sitting in a wheel barrow, I did this to see how the mounts reacted while connected to the engine, taking into consideration that the large mount was not connected to the subframe, therefore these are only partial tests.
First up was the jag/Mondeo mount. 1 This is how it reacted when i exerted minimal side to side force, and to see if the mount rotated on the little bush. https://youtu.be/QcpPPJqw-l8 Second up was the Chinese 1.8 mount. 2 Again same test sideways and rotation. https://youtu.be/rWtLCrG6l5c Third up for test was the original T mount. 3 Same test as above https://youtu.be/fxU7bmxR4PE Forth test was the Chinese 2.0 which i took of my car yesterday to replace with a used T mount. 4 This was tested as all the other side movement & rotation. https://youtu.be/s4RX5VIzZ2Q Once again take what you will from these videos, not the 100% test with the mounts fitted to the car but that is in the pipe line & will be reported on. It still remains that the small bushes on the mounts differ through each test & the Chinese 1.8 is very weak, the Jag/Mondeo mount is either softer rubber or as been compromised by its modifying which i think is the case.

That is most likely fine on a 1.8 but not on the diesel engine, then there's taking into account the Jag/Mondeo mount fouls the bracket unless its ground down round the small bush area, or the bracket as 3mm minimum filed or ground from it, then you have the big trouble of removing the bracket to do the job, which in it's self is a task.

Been follwing this for yonks since the OEM mount split ..
Since then had the PF Yellow slotted mount in the car of a age. last year went to that multi Model mount from DMGRS. And very recently fitted an original design mount advertised as for a Diesel but shows no speical identifcations.. But can definatley say the last one is the best .. The yellow is a close 2nd with the DMGRS a very close 3rd . actually little to chose between 2 & 3 . But the old bus has now got 98% of its original smoothness back, even the new alt and belts seem to help . Chris

Hi Simon. They were the letters that indicated which mount was for each model, ie below. Stamped on the mount. T=diesel P=Petrol 2.0/2.5 M=Petrol 1.8

Are there are 3 different rubber stiffnesses then? What if a mount doesn't have T, P or M, or any other letter? I've got a new one here with no letter but it does have a part number printed in ink on the side of the casting. (The one that's still on the car has a P btw.)
