Default Diesel filter

Not so much a technical question but i went to fit a fuel filter on my 2002 diesel today and noticed the one on the car had a drain in the bottom but the replacement doesn't have one. the original one was a fiamm if i am right, the replacement isn't.

Does it make any difference.

In the notes with the pics you say "half fill the new filter with diesel".
Before seeing that I'd filled mine as far as I could without spilling and had no issue when restarting. Was there a reason for suggesting 'half' fill?

Hi Ken.
No real reason just that you that you need to use clean fuel, I was airing on the safe side of spliage also you do not need to add any fuel to the filter before fitting as you will prime with turning on the ignition to II for about 20 seconds repeat this a couple of times, then start the engine.
