Facelift bumper loom
Hi all
I have a 2004 facelift 75 diesel. I have just removed the front bumper to repair some damage caused by a broken tree branch. I have a black wiring connector on the bumper loom, offside. It has just 2 wires, 1 black and 1 orange and the connectors are clean, not corroded/dirty as if unused. Where it separates from the rest of the loom it is only about a foot long but I can't see where it goes or what it does. Can anyone help? Thanks Steve |

just a thought, it's not a connector for FBH thermostat perhaps?
Is it is the same loom as the horn(s) and bonnet alarm? |

Thanks for your reply. Its the loom that goes from the n/s too o/s along the bumper, feeds the fog lights and indicators and the plug comes off on the opposite side to where the FBH heater would be fitted. My car doesn't have one. It could be an unused connector but it just looks too clean. Lights all work as does the horn. Unfortunately a temper tantrum caused the demise of my workshop cd after a particularly bad day!

umm... it's not the external temperature sensor is it, I know I when I took the bumper of mine, this runs in the same loom as fog light, indicators etc?

*nips to garage*
Think it is the external temperature sensor for the dashboard readout. Last edited by kelvo; 14th January 2018 at 15:40.. Reason: attachment went missing |

Mmm. I will have another look tomorrow. Does the sensor have 2 connections because it definitely has wiring going to it.

yes, two connections one orange, the other black. The sensor looks like it's missing in your photo - think it's bonded to the bumper just above the mesh. The other thing, with the external temperature sensor disconnected the dashboard gauge reads minus 30.0C.

Hi, I think you may be right. Is it correct that the ambient sensor for the readout clips onto the front bumper? If so, mine was ripped off when the branch scrunched through the front grill. Luckily the radiator is ok although the grill mountings have been destroyed on the bumper.
Thanks for your help. |
