Amber Warning Lamp...
Engine symbol on my mother's 1.4 Rover 25. What are the possible faults? The car seems to run well but my father is concerned. Many thanks regards, Stu

Heres what it says in the manual.
The light illuminates as a bulb check when the starter switch is turned to the second position and extinguishes when the engine is started, if the light illuminates while the engine is running , this indicates the detection of a fault by the engine management system. If the light illuminates and the car drives normally;Contact your dealer to arrange a service appointment at your earliest convenience-YOU MAY STILL DRIVE THE CAR. If the light flashes and/or the car does not drive normally: Avoid high speeds and seek immediate assistance from your dealer. Hope that helps you. |

I had the same on my partners 45 2003 45 k miles. Buy a OBD II code reader on ebay for 30 notes and plug it into the socket on the console by the drivers left foot.
It will tell you the error code. You can reset it and see if the fault re occurs. Dont guess and change this that and everything. 9/10 times its a lambda sensor and you can buy a universal one for £16 on flee bay. Bank one is at the front of engine bank 2 after the catalyst under drivers seat. Cars used for short journeys tend to get this so put non supermarket fuel in the car and give it a good blast after resetting the light. |
