Count the number of turns and measure the diameter - you can always replace any you cut off then.

A bit of background on the illegal use of frequencies....
Ofcom now have remote monitoring stations remotely controlled and potentially able triangulate any illegal ones they find. They no longer need to drive around the streets to find these, they can do most of what is needed from an office chair and a computer.
