Gearbox 'slipping'
When I pulled out from work tonight , r75 2.0 cdti 2003 auto., pulled away smooth accelerated down the road when it changed up the revs went high for a second until I realised and backed off the throttle, when it then dropped with a bump into second, this is the only time it has done it , done 15 miles since no problem, is this the onset of a problem or a random gremlin

So yes it may be have been a glitch that evening, or could be the start of something. I know this was a different car but thumping into gears is a no no on any make, but very quickly the car ended up in breaker yard heaven Got a very good scrap price for it and put that towards buying a 75 Good luck with it. Time for an autobox fluid change me thinks. The level could be low, is there any paperwork when this was last done? Should be changed every 4 years.

99.9% of all gearbox faults are caused by either low fliud, dirty fluid, or wrong fluid used..

I had exactly the same happen to me two months ago, a couple of times pulling away from roundabouts when the car was cold the revs went high for a second. Had the gearbox oil changed at my service and it hasn't happened since.
