Under bonnet pump
I noticed last week that my my tick over was a bit sluggish, then a couple of days ago it wouldnt start as the ubp was not working I tapped the top of the fuel filter and it started to work, IT ticks over ok but seems to have lost a bit of power, could the ubp be starting to fail. Thanks for any input

Yes it sounds like your UBP is on the way out. Beware cheap replacements - better to opt for a genuine Pierburg one.
