well done cliff. wish i had MOT men in leicester so forgiving. been using the same place for 25yrs. Until recently i managed no advisories for all the years i have owned the rover (14) and only a small screw in a tyre tread spoiled an unblemished history advisory wise. recently the "new" testers have gone to town on me , examining tyre treads with magnifying glass and high powered torch etc. Over enthusiastic maybe but all in all fair to say that they are doing a good job regarding safety , as they are an independent mot set up ,and dont do repairs. They also need to respect that these cars are not 3 yrs old , and whilst they have rules to pass or fail cars should i think be a little more "sympathy inclined towards picky issues. i have always tried to keep the old girl in tip top condition and like to keep the history honest and clearly state that the car is very much looked after. ... still ... im not unhappy with my new 12mths MOT.pass .. ...

Thanks to all for your replies ref. my recent MOT pass. I've had the diesel Copperleaf Conn SE saloon since 2014, it has never failed an MOT but as I'm now in my early seventies and have an arthritic knee, I'm no longer able to maintain & repair vehicles myself at ground level ! I also own, since 2017, a diesel White Gold Conn SE tourer, and I swap them over to use about every six months. I found a Rover MG specialist in Clitheroe, Lancs, (not too far from me in Settle, North Yorks) and the MOT station that they use (who don't nitpick thankfully) is almost next door. From 1968, I've owned about 45 cars, the first was a 1967 Ford Corsair V4 saloon.
I enjoy reading the forums daily so I'll take this opportunity to thank everyone involved in running, participating and contributing to this excellent owners club. Best regards, Cliff J. |
