battery charger
i bought an intelligent "challenge" battery charger , about 3 yrs ago. it has fast and slow charge options and does the job fine whenever needed. my neighbour has a golf with stop start battery fitted. my charger has an option for "gell" battery. is this for the stop start type of battery ? he was asking to use it but i am not sure about its usage being suitable. any info appreciated.

Start-Stop batteries are usually AGM so your charger is unlikely to be suitable. I would get a charger with a programme optimised for AGM. AGM battreis require a higher than standard charging voltage, so a non-AGM specific charger will only charge an AGM battery to around 75% to 85% of the capacity. This is ok for an emergency charge but not for battery maintenance.
