Tui Struggles?
Trying to build ourselves up to a "foreign holiday" again but not convinced that all is well at all with the hol company of choice! Flights missing and delays etc. Our local airport at Norwich is operating fine for all other flights but theirs are all over the place. The Tui Farcebook complaints page is full of upset folks and their adverts seem to have disappeared off the telly. Do we have any insiders on the forum??? I am not filled with confidence.

We are heading for a recession, the signs are everywhere. Brace yourselves. We are hoping to go to NZ for a coue of months in October, luckily we are able to benefit from reduced airfares. Mind NZ is such an expensive country now.

In February we booked flights with Etihad + hotel to Abu Dhabi for a family wedding using an independent travel agent. We had to cancel at the last moment and received a full refund within a month. There was a small charge/commission from the agent who sorted everything out with the airline and hotel, no fuss. In a couple of weeks we are flying to the UK. We bought fully flexible tickets in case we have to cancel or change the travel dates. To try and keep costs down, we are flying on a night flight and arriving on a Monday at the crack of Dawn. The flights for flying Saturday/Sunday carried an extra surcharge of £700 per passenger, silly prices. I realise the airlines are desperate to make the money where they can. It’s disappointing British Airways the national flag carrier can no longer be relied on. I sincerely hope you get holiday you want. |

From the various news sources it seems that the airlines have assumed that the airports can handle their flight slots, but in reality the airports do not have sufficient ground handling or check in staff.
Flights are cancelled because the airlines are not ready to fly within the airline's take off slot window, so they have to cancel. Of course the government is being blamed for not paying for everlasting furlough for the airport staff during the pandemic. Holiday industry should not sell what they cannot deliver. |

At the moment it's best to plan for a holiday at the airport - the airports are no worse than some foreign hotels. If you get beyond the airport and to fly then consider that to be a bonus!
