Question Interior cabin temperature sensor

Hi all,

Could not find anything regarding the cabin temp sensor.
Driving a 2005 CDTi contemporary SE.

My AC and my heater incl matrix are working.
Issue is that my automatic temp setting nor the actual temp setting (e.g. "21C") do not work. I either get cold or hot air. I can only "regulate" it by setting it to "HI" or "LO".

A readout showing that the interior cabin temp sensor has failed. Where would I find the item and what's the part number for a replacement? Is it equal to the pyramid-shaped sunlight sensor close to the windscreen?

Thanks in advance!

Cheers

Mats

Left hand side of the steering wheel behind the small oval slotted vent, connection is via a pipe to the heater assembly.

There's a technical bulletin about this pipe dislodging Mat (if only I could *find it!). Check that the vent grille is clear too.

Simon

* Edit: I've found it but it concerns nothing more than a cold air draught below the steering wheel! The tube is known as the temperature sensor aspirator.

I wonder if this could be the cause of the problem I have,

I set the temp to say 23c,, The engine warms up, the heater warms up and all if fine, THEN the air flow thru the lower vents starts to blow cold air and the only way to get warm air is to increase the temp setting..

Where would this pipe "Dislodge" from? or where should it be attached to?

Hi John,

From memory it leads from the oval grille down the side of the heater/A.C. unit in the driver's (RHD) footwell. It dislodges* from the temperature sensor which is mounted there. You may need to remove a finishing panel to see it.

Simon

*Edit: Now that I've found the Technical Tip (see post above), it actually concerns a cold air draught below the steering wheel but it isn't specific why this should happen. Dislodging was the only conclusion that I could draw.

#Hi John.
The pipe only attaches to two end one being behind the oval vent, the onto a plastic connector attached to the fan shrouding, pic 2

Thank you very much for the quick and detailed explanation.
A job for the weekend!

Any experience and advice on which panels must come off to do the job?

All you need to remove to see and reach the "Pipe" is the surround that covers the light switch and under the steering wheel. Two screws and couple of pull off clips..

Just did mine and both ends are attached, I also used an air line to blow down it from the dash panel end to remove any blockage not that there was any
