Whilst fitting some brass leak-off connectors yesterday, I found a white plastic/rubber cap lurking between two of the injectors.

I don't know if it was originally part of the car, or whether it's just a random item that has found its way in there?

Does anybody recognise it?

Looks like some sort of cap of a bottle fluid of some sort, certainly not seen that on any our cars, good idea to change out the injector connectors did mine back in 2012

and on other cars i have owned since.

set i did on my FL1 when i had it.

Yes, I was in there a couple of days ago changing the PCV filter and cleaning the MAF sensor, being ultra careful not to break any connectors. I then saw your ‘how-to’ on changing to brass connectors and thought it would be well worth doing.

Have you had an injector replaced at any time? That looks like a protective cap to prevent contamination getting into pipe fittings of new parts and so discarded when a part is fitted.

Not personally. I’ve only owned it since the end of March, so I’m not sure what has been done to it in the past.

Although it has a full set of stamps in the book, there is no other supporting paperwork.

After a second look at the photos, in the one with the injectors in, the injector on the right looks to be new compared with the one on the left.


Nice clean plastics and the metal work on the right injector is nice and shiny compared to the left.


So it looks like you were right


I wonder if there are signs of ' spanner work ' on the pipe nut.
