MG ZT CDTI+ 135 Auto, 31mpg surely should do better? Mind you, mainly in city driving (London!)

I drive into Central London every day from Hertfordshire, so hardly economical driving conditions. With the ammount of slow or stationary traffic, it's more a case of hours per galon rather than miles per gallon. I do avoid paying the nasty £8/day congestion charge though due to my 2.5 V6 auto being LPG.
On LPG she returns an average of 21mpg (equates to approx 37mpg based on petrol prices). If I run her on petrol instead of LPG I can get upto 32mpg on motorway runs. I did a motorway run upto Coventry yestersay on LPG and my brim to brim calculation was 25mpg, I was in a rush though. I often consider running a more economic car but the sheer magic that is the V6 growl everytime you pull away from a red light (and there are millions of the damn things in London) is simply wonderful. Perhaps you diesels owners might want to consider playing a CD of V6 engine noises whilst driving....

I recently did a brim to brim test, half the tank was a 2x 140 mile motorway trip ( which may or may not have been slightly above the NSL) and the rest consisted of my 16 mile commutes to work.Worked out at 28.8mpg ( 2.5 Auto) which will do.
As a comparision, frien has got one of those Lexus 4X4 electric hybrid things, and can't get anywhere near that!

Welcome to the forum. Driving in London I don't think I'd fare much better to be honest. Just console yourself with how bad it would be if it were a petrol!!

I tried lifting my right foot but couldn't manage it. Hereditary/Genetic problem I think. Then I turned the seat memory off and moved the seat back one notch. That worked. Got around an extra 5 mpg. Thinking of a patent now.

generaly, i get about 25 mpg, but i travel short distances to work, so i dont expect much. however the best (or should i say worst) was 250 miles to a tank, which works out at about 18 mpg. no idea how i managed it though
