What we've done with this is to squeal when the little one bites us (well, Gill can squeal, I yelp!) which mirrors what would happen with other pups. Also, when we had Charlie, the kennel lady suggested (and demonstrated!) biting her on the nose if she bit us, which is again what would happen in a pup's socialising with mum - she would teach her that nipping is not acceptable. Of course, they explore the world through their mouths and noses, so you can't stop all of it, but they need to learn the acceptable levels!
When I came back from work tonight he was nipping, the girlfriend was already playing with him. She then went and did some bits and left me and Oscar to play together. I fell asleep on the floor, cuddling him, she has gone out for the evening, :hurray!!!!: he has been perfect, just cuddling me all sleepy. She's back now :eyebrowsraised: He seems different when she's around. More biting etc.

Other way around with me and Gill (Maddy is more gentle with her...) Having said that, I do play rougher! Me, Maddy and Charlie have spent the last hour sitting on the floor playing together, and they've now gone to bed fairly calm, so maybe I'm getting there at last?!

Be careful, he sounds like he could be getting posessive. Discourage the biting as much as you can, you don't need to slap his nose or anything, if he starts biting, say NO firmly and ignore him. Keep repeating til he gets the message. They have to learn very early that biting isn't acceptable. He's absolutely gorgeous!

Want to see my little madam (who;s knocked the dog guard down already and got through to the back seat).

Darn forgot my photobucket password!

Possesive of who? So you would suggest kicking the girlfriend out? I could go along with that. I'd love to see your little madam. Funnily enough, he doesn't respond to you saying no, when I give him a funny look he seems to behave for a bit.

She's a heinz 57. Mother was an alsation/collie cross. Father was a travelling man. Colour wise she's like a rhodesian ridgeback, she's got the black stripe down her back. She got caught on Sun so she got an injection last night and will get another tomorrow then she's getting spayed in Aug.

Def sounds as though your's is getting a bit posessive of you! He'll try and get between you soon if you're having a cuddle on the couch, mine tries to compete with me for alpha female status, but she loses

I was going to say Rhodesian Ridgeback, she has a similar shaped body/legs. Mother had two, now one.

Why would he get possesive of me? Surely he would be possesive of the girlfriend? Being a bloke?

Aww what a shame. Think she'll get another? It's always tough losing a pet, I grew up with a black lab called Sheila, still can't think about her without a tear coming to my eye.

She's a bit smaller than the ridgebacks but very similiar. She's hilarious, she's staring at me just now cos it's bedtime.
