Not harsh I believe Paul,
They receive full Pay when off Sick for first 4 weeks,
all cases would be looked at, but at end of day I have to find alternate cover and with Non office staff on £345 upward PW I feel (as does the Company) if your fit enough to go out,
come to work!

But you can be fit enough to go out. For example my condition is caused by an abcess, it's affecting my whole arm making it painful to be sitting at a PC for more than 10/15 mins, however I can do most other things including sit and be interviewed for around an hour. Being in work would cause me a great deal of pain until I have this operation, hopefullly in the next 3/4 weeks.

Glad I don't work for your lot! I'm signed off, as I'm unfit for work with 2 broken legs, but thanks to a wheelchair I can still get to go outside, even shopping if I'm taken, sitting indoors for 12+ weeks would drive me insane!

Does depend on the job you do to I suppose.

We have one person working in Admin who in a wheelchair, and one girl with a Broken Leg,
but they can still work at their desks with no problems.

But on Tarmac and in the Hangers, staff wouldn't be able to work of course in that condition.

Sounds very sensible...unless you have an employee with, for instance, Bi-Polar disorder, depression (as already stated), cancer or any number of other conditions whereby you may well be 'fit enough to go out' but not fit enough to work. Equally, what if the Doctor recommends fresh air and exercise? Based on that contract one could, in theory, be terminally ill but still able to go out! Best get them to work then!
