Pete,
Fabulous service chap - plates were waiting on the mat when I got home today! Will tackle the job when doing the checks for the MOT in a few weeks. Cheers. Jonty |

I fitted mine today thanks to Peter who supplied the plates and Arctic's excellent pictures and directions. It was an easy 15 minute job including the inevitable faffing around.
I found it helpful to use a prop from the beginning to keep the tailgate just slightly more open than it is on the struts. This makes it easy to pop the end of the strut off the ball as the wider part of the oval hole then aligns easily with the ball. The clip at the end of the strut doesn't need to come off or out at all - just lever it out a little bit with a small screwdriver and then you can push the strut off the ball with your hand - I didn't need the bull nose pliers suggested by Arctic. A good and easy modification! Jeremy |

Big thanks
Just like to say a big thanks to Peter for his help in obtaining the plates and also to Arctic for his excellent guide on what to do - which I followed easily step by step this morning. My mind is now far more at ease. By the way to take the weight away from the struts whilst the Tailgate was raised I opened the Glass parcel door , propped a ladder up against Tailgate and looped rope from the upper steps , through the open parcel window then back up round the tailgate to top step , then repeated this several times till confident the top step had full weight of tailgate. With the burden on the struts removed they easily came away and quite simply slipped back.
My next task is to obtain one of those smaller Cross Braces for the Exhaust Tunnel under one of my 75 Saloons. I also had one missing from my other Saloon but now have one on reserve at local breakers yard. Wonder what the task after that will be! All the best |
