The Monkeys
I've just serviced my ZT for the first time since I bought it, up to now it has a full stamped garage service history for 99,000 miles.
I took the air filter cover off - 3 screws on top and it lifted off. I then noticed the other 2 screws down the back that obviously weren't screwed in AND had a blob of silicon sealer on top of them to hold them in place. Hence the title - the monkeys at the garage must have decided it was too much trouble to fiddle about down the back so gluped them in place! It also explains the little rattle I could hear when the engine was running and the bonnet open, the glupe wasn't fully holding them down, so now no rattle! |

That's the reason i'd rather do my own work on my car. If the service book worries you just buy a stamp from one of those companies that will put whatever you want on it and stamp it yourself. As long as you keep the receipts for the service parts then the date should tally up in your service book.
