Default re-dying steering wheel

Hi,

Advice required on re-dying the leather on a steering wheel.
I have just ordered a brand new burr walnut and sandstone leather steering wheel since smokestone finished wheels seem to be like the holy grail.
I had seen a thread somewhere previously about changing the colour using a dye. Has anyone done this with a sandstone finish steering wheel.
I dont want to get it wrong as it would be an expensive mistake so any help would be appreciated guys.

Regards

Piscator
