Default Auto gearbox connector diagram

Having semi retired the car from everyday use it appears to not like it. I try to alternate every week or so to keep things running and after the drivers door handle on the coupe snapped I've put the 75 back into service until I can source another. Everything was fine for a few days then it started being very harsh when changing gears. It seems to have moments when it's ok which seem to be once the ignition is cycled but gets worse when hot. I've checked the connector for water ingress seeing as we're quite water logged in Cumbria but it's ok. The fluid is probably due as it was changed about 30,000 miles ago but I have a code of P1748 2/4 brake solenoid. Somewhere on the forum either Dave (stocktake) or possibly T-cut posted a picture of the connector and its pins but I can't find it, does anybody have a copy handy? My Rave Info is with T4 in the boot of the tourer at work.

Default Not too bad

Hi

It is not too bad a job to change the duty solenoid. Do it before you change the fluid as you lose some when you take the plate off.

I'm guessing it's 2/4 duty solenoid? 18 and 16?

Quick look this morning and although all the readings seem to be a bit vague pins 16 and 18 seem open circuit looks like it's going to just get parked up for the time being!

What do you mean Mark? Are you measuring the male side of the connector?

That's really not a good idea you know. Cars deteriorate rapidly when they're not used, particularly over the winter ... in Cumbria!

If you've found an open circuit solenoid then dive in straight away and change it. Contact Sussex Auto Parts or JPAT for a new one. You'll find reassurance from other members who have done this job and been delighted with the result.

All the readings seemed lower than quoted. I've enquired about a solenoid already, however, due to the issues in Cumbria and damage we sustained the car is the least of our problems at the moment. Having 4 cars means that there's always two parked up at any one time

That would suggest that there might be a problem with your multimeter don't you think? An open circuit on one of them though is a different matter.

It's a fluke meter which I trust, lesser readings than expected but open circuit between 18 and 16 is pretty conclusive
