25 not 75...
Hi all, hoping someone here can help. My dads got a Rover 25, with the pektron system, and he needs to change the battery in the fob. He can’t see how to do it, and I can’t find anything online about how to do it. Anyone here able to help?

Take the fob off the keyring then slide the top part off like this.......
The two lugs securing each half of the fob which are at each side now exposed, can gently be released, allowing the two halves to be separated and access to the battery, a CR2032. Taking note of the way the battery is fitted, remove it, then refit the new one in it's place. Reassembly is a reversal of disassembly. Brian |

Well he managed to get the key apart to change the battery, but apparently it now needs a code or something to reset the immobiliser, which he hasn't got, so it's been taken to an MGR garage in Bristol for them to have a look at.

After battery change in the Pektron fob, if the battery is good new one and inserted properly, it should work immediately without any reset or sync process like in previous Lucas system which needed resync process.

Maybe he did something wrong then. He changed the fob battery, then got in to go to work the next day and it unlocked the car but the engine wouldn't start. I'm too far away to pop over so he had to call out the AA. So lucky they didn't diagnose it as HGF!

The 25 is prone to getting a damp BCU. That will knock out the car’s ability to start. My Streetwise had the same problem. Terry at TS Autos fitted a new one and all was well. Later I re routed the BCU to the passenger footwell to keep it dry. Worked fine and never got damp again.

Usually all you need to do is unlock and re-lock it a few times (say 3) After replacing the fob battery and it picks up all the codes it needs.

If immobiliser is not disarmed, then, as said dump BCU might be culprit. |
