Default Clutch.

Hi, I will be at Cosford on Sunday, is there anyone able to bleed my clutch as I have a very notchy gearchange. I have been to two gearbox centres in Liverpool who tell me it is impossible to bleed a clutch on a Rover 75. Many thanks, John.

Absolute rubbish how on earth would you fit a slave or master if you can't bleed the system.

To bleed you will need a syringe, a one man bleed kit, spanners 13mm 11mm IIRC or is it 14mm & 11mm or set of, some brake fluid and some rag's for spillage.

Easy job but access to the master cylinder TRICKY mate.

Don't know if anybody will help at Cosford cos they will be in there nice clober plus not really the place to be working on the car.

Not being funny mate just my opinion.

Have a look on the foum and give it a try before you come mate!!!!

Basically they don't want the hassle of doing the job. You'd think they'd be biting peoples' hands off for business in the current climate!! It is a tricky one though, as Newcybrown says, but certainly do-able with patience. Unless you strip the drivers side under-dash area of panels you will be doing the work practically blind. A syringe is invaluable with a length of tubing for force-feeding the reservoir.

HTH.

Default Clutch.

Thanks fellas for your help. I will have to keep trying to find a decent mech. Good point about people in good gear not wanting to work on cars.

Could be a silly question - What type of fluid is used?

If you've got a FBH fitted, it's tricky to get at. I whipped the battery and box out to make it easier. Turkey baster from the pound shop and a length of windscreen washer tube is ideal.

Make sure you remove the cap, and the rubber diaphram before adding fluid. The complete system holds about 100ml of fluid.

It requires DOT4 hydraulic fluid, like the brakes.
