Unhappy Slipping Clutch ?

Driving at 60 mph in 5th gear, try to accelerate hard and the rev counter goes to the red but the clutch seems to be slipping as no acceleration occurs. From stationary in first gear with the handbreak on, it stalls. Does this sound like the clutch going, if so how much is it going to cost to get fixed. This is a 2004 cdti having covered 26000 miles.

Yes, I'd say so. But that's a remarkably low mileage to wear away a clutch.

Expensive as these things go. The upmarket places will charge up to £800 or more. Can be done for half that at smaller outfits. Think about replacing everything, clutch, slave cylinder, master cylinder. Be prepared for stories about new dual mass flywheels. Add another £300 if it really needs one. Most don't.

Default slipping clutch

Are the menders likely to have the parts in stock, if not what is a reasonable wait time ?
Thanks for such a fast reply

It depends who you take it to to do the job.

I would ring round first to see the availability of parts.

I got a clutch the next day but my slave took a couple of days from e bay but I fitted it all myself.

Would have thought any clutch place would be able to get the parts pretty quickly.
