Tourer rear chamber
Hi, has anyone ever had issues of heavy wear on the outer 1/3 of there tyres? My rears are wear on the outer edge to the tundvof onvyge wear bars ofbthe outside and 6mm tread on the inside.
Is this bush change or radius arm adjustment? Cheers, Graham Last edited by GBCB1986; 27th November 2019 at 20:58.. Reason: Typo |

The trailing arm brackets in front of the rear wheels can be loosened and moved to adjust the rear wheel alignment. Getting this set properly should cure the uneven tyre wear.
Less likely to be camber related I would say. |

It looks like the rear wheels have excessive toe-in. I suggest you take it to a trusted tracking depot and have a 4-wheel alignment carried out. These are the latest MGR specs.

Hi Graham,
First, the lovely Wedgewood Blue Tourer is now resting peacefully with a very happy new owner . There's a few threads about this. With grateful thanks to T Cut as I haven't seen the actual figures before and it always worries me when a garage just says "They've been adjusted and they're now all OK, sir" From memory the fuel tank needs to be full when you have it adjusted. Looks like there's a couple of garages near to you with "Hunter" alignment kit. https://www.alignmycar.co.uk/ And I've got a feeling that someone who does a good job with this was mentioned at a Nano but I can't remember who or exactly where. Hopefully one of the nano folks will be along soon with this info. Good Luck. Andy. Last edited by AndyN01; 28th November 2019 at 15:18.. Reason: Grammar |

Yes, the tourers do have a tendency to wear the outer edges of the tyres.
Alignment may be the issue, but tyre pressures can also play a part in this. What size wheels do you have? I had a similar problem with both my tourers, but found that on 16" wheels if I used the highest pressure figures in the handbook the problem disappeared Russ

Hi all, many thanks for the info. Andy, glad you’re enjoying the car.
Russ, thanks for that. I’m on standard union alloys so 16” if I remember correctly. I’ll have a go at the alignment and see how much off I am. Cheers, Graham. |
