Default mass flow sensor

yet again the mass airflow sensor on my 75 diesel is failing , it seem to packup when the weather on the roads is very wet ,seems like water may be getting onto the sensor bit and causing a short. is this why they fail and is there anyway that i can stop this . the first one was a bosch one ,the second a cheap ebay one ,they both have lasted about the same time and failed in the same way.

would one of roverons maf items stop this happening again or would it help one that has partially failed , i must say that its the only annoying thing on the car and it has now done 205k ...

The only sure way IMHO is to do the MK2 Air Intake Mod,
this does seem to prevent any water getting into system and damaging MAF by it getting wet.

Is your Air Filter getting very wet?

The Pierburg MAF is of course a lot cheaper and with the Added performance etc gained with a Synergy,
you will really notice a difference, please note that you cannot just fit a Pierburg MAF as a replacement,
it needs either the Synergy or a Mafam unit from him to work.

The cheap MAF's on EBay do not seem to last or be very good \I'm afraid,
but a Genuine Bosch one should be a lot better.
It should also have some form of Warranty with it,
but not sure of timer/mileage.

Thumbs up

Just fitted a Pierburg MAF & Synergy from Roverron today. I spoke to him on Saturday morning, paid for it, he said he would post it Monday. Turned up this morning whilst I was a work.

Took about 1 hour to fit, best £125.00 I ever spent on the car

Goes so much better, pulls like a train.
