Default Hybrid K16 configuration

I am looking for an exhaust Camshaft position sensor (cmp) which will fit and work with a K16 engine which is using a vvc head

Nature of my conundrum: on the cheap, using asp (all spare parts & I have a lot & of now unknown origin) I am renovating a mgf mpi 1.8 mem3 which had hgf. Fitted a vvc head with solid cam ( no inlet Camshaft position lob) plus 135 cam as exhaust cam (with Camshaft position lob). Having machined and fitted blanking plates, alloy inlet 56mm throttle. Using existing loom, mem3 & cmp got the engine to run. But it leaked oil from cmp sensor I had forgotten to fit o ring. When o ring fitted showed no Camshaft / circuit failure and would not run. Changed cmp sensor no improvement. As an extensive checking could find no reason then saw a post and knew that my configuration meant cmp sensor too short. Measuring shows vvc cam carrier is taller than mpi carrier by approx. 14mm.

So looking for off the shelf solution (a hall effect 3 wire sensor with or will have to make special sensor/ mounting. Any ideas please.

Default

Try fitting the cam sensor without the O ring and instead use some instant gasket.

Default Cutting back the plastic

I have tried that and the cutting back of the shoulder on the standard sensor, allowing the sensor to get closer to the lob, but it still sits over 5 mm further away from the lob than on the standard head. Such proximity sensors have a detection ranch of approx 5 mm or less.
